Most performance transmission pans hold another 3 to 4 quarts of fluid above the stock amount. This additional fluid capacity combined with internal and external fins translates to drops in transmission fluid temperatures of up to 25 degrees Fahrenheit or more. Constructed from die-cast aluminum, tranny pans look great and provide extra strength and rigidity to your transmission.
Other key features of high capacity transmission pans include magnetic drain plugs and standard 1/8 inch NPT sensor ports. Magnetic drain plugs trap worn gear material promoting fluid integrity. As the metallic components in transmissions and axles wear, they create very fine pieces of particle debris that becomes suspended in the fluid. A suspended magnet helps separate and contain these particles, keeping the fluid cleaner and extending component life. Periodic checking and cleaning of the magnet is recommended for maximum fluid service life.
