Performance differential covers hold an additional quart or more of fluid over the stock diff cover capacity. This additional fluid capacity combined with internal and external fins translates to measurable drops in axle fluid temperatures, especially important when towing heavy loads. Constructed from die-cast aluminum, differential covers are available in wrinkle black powder coat with black or machined fins. They make lube maintenance without removing the differential cover routine.
Other key features of heavy duty differential covers include oil level sight glass, magnetic fill plugs, and 1/8 inch NPT sensor ports. The large oil level sight glass with calibration plug is set to factory fluid levels to eliminate overfilling. Magnetic deep reach fill plugs trap worn gear material promoting fluid integrity. As metallic components in the axle wear, they create very fine pieces of particle debris that becomes suspended in the fluid. A suspended magnet helps separate and contain these particles, keeping the fluid cleaner and extending axle life. Periodic checking and cleaning of the magnet is recommended for maximum fluid service life.
